Regulations

What Cyprus requires

Cyprus is an RHD market and, as an EU member, generally limits non-EU M1 passenger vehicles to five years old at arrival, alongside Customs clearance and Road Transport Department (RTD) approval and registration.

Non-EU M1: 5-year limit

Non-EU M1 passenger vehicles are generally limited to five years old at arrival, measured from first registration. Other classes, concessions or exemptions may differ — we check each lot before bidding.

Right-hand drive

Cyprus is an RHD market and uses RHD cars — the Japanese market matches by default. RTD approval is still required.

Customs & RTD approval

On arrival the car clears Customs and passes Road Transport Department approval and registration, including a roadworthiness check, before it can be plated.

Duty, VAT & registration at your end. As an EU import, the car attracts customs duty, VAT and registration/excise handled locally. These are not in the JapanAuc landed cost — confirm current rates with the Cyprus Department of Road Transport and Customs.

Step by step

How to import to Cyprus with JapanAuc

1

Register & set a budget

Sign up free and place a refundable deposit. Tell us your target model and budget, and that it’s headed to Cyprus.

2

Find eligible cars

We filter the auctions to clean RHD units within the five-year age limit for non-EU M1 vehicles — compacts and hybrids especially — and translate the sheet so you bid with confidence.

3

Win & inspect

We bid on your behalf. On winning, the car moves to our yard for real yard-in photos and export preparation.

4

Pay the balance invoice

After you’ve seen the yard-in photos, settle the balance (hammer price + commission + export + freight) by bank transfer, Wise or PayPal.

5

Export & ship

We complete export deregistration, book RoRo or a container to Limassol, and send you the Bill of Lading and full document pack.

6

Clear at Limassol

Your Cypriot customs agent pays the customs duty, VAT and registration tax and registers the car with the Cyprus Department of Road Transport. We help with any document you need.

What it costs

Your JapanAuc landed cost to Limassol

Everything JapanAuc charges is in Japanese yen and transparent: the hammer price you win at, our commission (flat ¥35,000 up to ¥1,000,000, then 3.5%), the Export Package (auction-house fee + inland transport + export handling), then ocean freight. Added up, that’s your CIF Limassol price.

EU customs duty, VAT and registration tax are charged separately on arrival — not part of our quote. Use the calculator for a live CIF figure, then add your local clearing costs.
